Planning progresses with public participation

Bourbonnais, IL - The Village of Bourbonnais announces the next public engagement phase of the Community Campus Plan. Thursday, March 5, 2020 from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m., the village invites residents, businesses and visitors to attend an open house in the Municipal Center Community Room at 700 Main St. NW. In the fall of 2019, the village announced its plans to create a dynamic and attractive central core for community gatherings around the Municipal Center and surrounding areas. The open house event follows a recent Community Campus Plan online survey in which over 1,100 participants shared input and ideas in response to the village’s outreach efforts to ‘Imagine Bourbonnais’.

Gas system improvement project initiated

Bourbonnais, IL – The Village of Bourbonnais would like to inform residents of Nicor Gas’ recent announcement to enhance the natural gas system in Bourbonnais. As a part of its Investing in Illinois campaign, the Nicor Gas System Improvement Initiative is a multi-year initiative to modernize original natural gas infrastructure. Beginning February 6, 2020, Nicor Gas is working to modernize the system that delivers natural gas safely and reliably to the following village areas:

February 2nd - 8th Celebrates Boy Scouts of America 

Bourbonnais, IL – The Village of Bourbonnais announces ‘Scout Week’ in recognition of the Boy Scouts of America. The village is a long-standing supporter of scouting, and its efforts to build character, conduct, patriotism and service to become dedicated and responsible citizens. Returning as a part of ‘Scout Week’ is the Village of Bourbonnais’ annual ‘Scout Day’ on Wednesday, February 5, 2020. Bourbonnais Scouts will shadow village officials and run various village departments for an afternoon. A simulated village board meeting will take place at 3:00 p.m.

Free amenity available to residents and visitors

Bourbonnais, IL - The Village of Bourbonnais and Bourbonnais Township Park District are pleased to announce the Event and Skate Plaza located at 600 Main Street NW, behind the Village of Bourbonnais Administration Building, is now available to the public for ice skating (weather-permitting). The outdoor frozen rink is a free recreational activity provided to the community during the winter months. Skating may take place during the hours of 9 a.m. to dusk.

Patrolman and KAMEG Agent Receives Award

Bourbonnais, IL - The Bourbonnais Police Department proudly announces the 2019 'Officer of the Year' award and congratulates Dave Herberger for his outstanding service and selfless
dedication to the community. He was presented with a certificate by Chief of Police, James Phelps, at the Village of Bourbonnais Board Meeting Tuesday, January 21, 2020.

Input Needed for Community Campus Plan

Bourbonnais, IL - The Village of Bourbonnais is currently making efforts to promote new activity and vitality within our central core, including planning for an enhanced community campus to offer a range of activities and events for both residents and visitors of all ages. To assist in this effort, the Village has commissioned The Lakota Group–an urban planning and landscape architecture consulting firm–to lead a creative planning and visioning process for the Municipal Center and surrounding areas within the center of the community. We are also partnering with you - our residents, businesses, visitors - to help us 'Imagine Bourbonnais'!

Motorists warned to use caution

Bourbonnais, IL - A recent IDOT update confirms the St. George Road overpass may soon be open to traffic as early as the end of next week. The joint project includes the Kankakee County Highway Department and the Vilage of Bourbonnais. It was previously announced the overpass was to be demolished and replaced with a new structure that is both motorist and pedestrian-friendly. The roadway has been closed to traffic since April 2019 with an expectation to reopen in winter 2020. The project is nearing a point where it can be safely opened to traffic.

Record village funds collected for Christmas Shop with a Cop

Bourbonnais, IL - The Village of Bourbonnais is pleased to announce funds collected for the annual 'Change for Children' campaign benefiting the 'Christmas Shop with a Cop' program totaled $3,697.17. This record-breaking amount is a 44% increase over the 2018 funds gathered for the village’s contributions to the county-wide program. The Kankakee County Sheriff’s Department hosts 'Christmas Shop with a Cop' in conjunction with the Bourbonnais Police Department and local law enforcement. The 28th annual event is scheduled to take place this Sunday, December 15, 2019.

Bourbonnais, IL - The Village of Bourbonnais and Bourbonnais Township Park District announce Chocolate Tour 2020 is scheduled for Saturday, February 1 in the Village of Bourbonnais. The fourth annual event hosted by the Village of Bourbonnais and Bourbonnais Township Park District in conjunction with title sponsor, Sweet Street, will take place from noon to 5:00 p.m. $25 tickets will be available for purchase on Monday, December 2 online at www.btpd.org or in person during business hours at the Bourbonnais Township Park District Perry Farm House and the Village of Bourbonnais Administration Building.

Bourbonnais, IL - The Bourbonnais Police Department annually participates in the Kankakee County Sheriff's Department annual Shop with a Cop event. Village of Bourbonnais offices will be collecting donations this month to help provide Kankakee County children with a special Christmas experience.
