Bourbonnais, IL – Be our guest! The Village of Bourbonnais is pleased to invite diners to Bon Appétit Bourbonnais – a restaurant support and rebate program. Between February 12th and April 4th, patrons who spend $100 or more at any Village of Bourbonnais eating establishment will be eligible to receive a $10 Visa® Reward Card in addition to being entered into a grand prize drawing for a $500, $250 or $100 Visa Reward Card. 42 locations are included in the dining local event for residents and non-residents.
Very Merry Coloring Contest Winners

First year draws large turnout
Bourbonnais, IL – The Village of Bourbonnais is pleased to announce the winners for the first “Very Merry Holiday Coloring Contest”. The contest was open to village residents of all ages and free to participate. This was the second COVID-friendly event hosted by the village for the holidays. The custom Santa at the Skate Park coloring page could be downloaded and printed directly at home. A total of 117 entries were received between November 23rd and December 14th.

Winners announced for the first lighting contest
Bourbonnais, IL – “A Holly Jolly Holiday Lighting Contest” will continue to illuminate the Village of Bourbonnais through December 25th. The new event began December 4th and encouraged outdoor festive lighting and decorations among village residents. Participants entered for a chance to win in Traditional and People’s Choice categories while creating a safe and festive event for the community in a COVID cancelation kind of year. An online map of 35 holiday homes is currently available for viewing.

Police increase patrols for the holidays
Bourbonnais, IL — The Bourbonnais Police Department is partnering with the Illinois Department of Transportation and law enforcement throughout the state for a high-visibility enforcement campaign to crack down on impaired driving during the winter holidays. From Dec. 18 to Jan. 4, motorists will see an increase in patrols and traffic stops, along with additional messaging on the dangers of driving impaired.
Over $12k Raised for Schoolhouse

Event proceeds to benefit restoration project
Bourbonnais, IL – Although COVID-19 forced many 2020 events to be canceled or postponed, the Village of Bourbonnais was able to safely execute a Chocolate Tour (before the pandemic hit), a socially-distant Chicago Bears Summer Training Camp banner sale (during late summer while COVID cases were drastically down), and most recently, an online auction with the remaining Chicago Bears Training Camp memorabilia. All of the event proceeds will benefit the Bourbonnais Historical Society’s 1837 Log Schoolhouse Restoration Project – Kankakee River Valley’s first log schoolhouse in Bourbonnais. A combined $12,338 will be donated to the fundraising efforts to professionally reconstruct the schoolhouse. With the village’s contribution, an estimated $73,800 of the $120,000 goal has been reached.
Shop with a Cop Continues

Police department now accepting donations
Bourbonnais, IL — Christmas doesn’t have COVID-19. Despite the ongoing challenges of the pandemic, the annual Shop with a Cop event will be held Sunday, December 13, 2020 but will be heavily-modified to ensure a safe holiday experience. The program, hosted by the Kankakee County Sheriff’s Department in conjunction with the Bourbonnais Police Department and local law enforcement agencies, benefits underprivileged children in Kankakee County. The Bourbonnais Police Department is accepting financial donations through Monday, December 7th at 700 Main Street NW Monday - Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
A Very Merry Coloring Contest

Introducing another safe and festive activity for all ages
Bourbonnais, IL – Color us excited this holiday season! The Village of Bourbonnais introduces “A Very Merry Coloring Contest” sponsored by Aqua Illinois and Milner Media. This new activity for village residents provides a safe and festive experience for all ages. The custom Bourbonnais coloring page can be downloaded and printed at home. Available copies will also be accessible in front of the Administration Building at 600 Main Street NW for pickup, if needed. Categories include ages 6 and under, 7 – 10, all ages or family, and special needs. The contest is free to participate. All entries must be received by Monday, December 14th at 4:30 p.m.
Lobbies Closed Effective November 23rd

Preventative measures taken to promote public safety
Bourbonnais, IL – The Village of Bourbonnais announces the closure of the lobbies at the Administration Building 600 Main Street NW and at the Public Works Department 255 Mooney Drive, effective Monday, November 23rd. Lobbies will remain closed to the public until further notice. The Bourbonnais Police Department Records, Investigations and Administration Department will remain open at 700 Main Street NW during business hours Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Sergeant Graduates From Northwestern

Completes police program despite COVID-19 delays
Bourbonnais, IL — The Bourbonnais Police Department is pleased to announce the recent graduation of Sergeant Craig King from the School of Police Staff and Command (SPSC) at Northwestern University. Sergeant Craig King has successfully completed the ten-week, 400-hour Staff and Command program held in Plainfield, Illinois, from January 6 - May 8, 2020. The program implemented by the Center for Public Safety in 1983 has graduated over 25,000 students both nationally and internationally. Sergeant Craig King was a student in SPSC Class #473 which accommodated a total of 39 students. He is a 19-year veteran of the Bourbonnais Police Department and was promoted to Sergeant in 2016.

Bourbonnais, IL – Get ready to deck your halls this season! The Village of Bourbonnais presents “A Holly Jolly Holiday Lighting Contest” sponsored by Brandon Casey’s Comfort Crew and ComEd. The new event for village residents encourages outdoor festive lighting and decorations. Participants will have a chance to win in traditional, themed and people’s choice categories. An online map of all entry addresses will be available for community viewing December 4th through the 25th. The contest is free to participate, but preregistration is required by Monday, November 30th at 4:30 pm.
