4th annual community event continues to give back
Bourbonnais, IL – The Village of Bourbonnais and Bourbonnais Township Park District welcomed the sold-out Chocolate Tour on Saturday, February 1, 2020. 350 participants explored Village of Bourbonnais businesses while indulging in sweet treats at each location. Those who visited 36 of the 40 business stops were eligible be entered into a grand prize drawing for a 14k rose gold chocolate quartz necklace, courtesy of Andaul Jewelers. A new runner-up prize included a 55” 4K Smart TV provided by the Bourbonnais Friendship Festival. The Chocolate Tour Committee confirmed 2020 event proceeds reached $10,000. Funds will benefit the 1837 log schoolhouse restoration project in the village as well as provide new programs for children and family-focused events at Perry Farm Park.

Village gives green light for new grocery development
Bourbonnais, IL – The Village of Bourbonnais confirms a building permit was issued to Aldi Inc. on Friday, February 28, 2020. They are expected to break ground on their new location at 798 Main St. NW (IL Route 102) in Bourbonnais. The national grocery chain has been in communication with the village over the past twelve months on a Bourbonnais location. According to Aldi officials, construction on the 21,606 square foot store is projected to be completed in mid-August 2020, with an additional two weeks to fully stock the store.

National Council for Home Safety and Security releases 2020 report
Bourbonnais, IL — In their recent 2020 Safest Cities report, the National Council for Home Safety and Security (NCHSS) announced Bourbonnais earned a safety ranking of #38 within Illinois. The NCHSS, a national trade association, reviewed FBI Uniform Crime Report statistics and data from 2,831 law enforcement agencies. Variables such as total violent crime, property crime, law enforcement employees and population over 10,000 were taken into consideration to create a safety score for each city.

Bourbonnais, IL - Friday, February 21st, the Village of Bourbonnais, along with the Kankakee County Chamber of Commerce, officially welcomed the first business to open at the new I-57 Bourbonnais Parkway interchange. Gas N Wash, a 7,000 square foot facility located at the southwest corner of Bourbonnais Parkway and Route 45/52, features a retail convenience store, two drive-through restaurants - Dunkin' Donuts and Ta Canjio Taco Truck, automobile fueling islands, commercial vehicle diesel fueling islands, along with a 4,900 square foot automatic car wash and vacuum stations. The project broke ground in May 2019 and was the first permit issued at the recently-opened Bourbonnais Parkway.

Bourbonnais, IL – The Village of Bourbonnais earned a high-grade bond rating issued by Standard & Poor’s (S&P), a leading independent bond rating agency. The rating comes as a result of the village’s recent approval of a $5 million general obligation bond. The S&P financial analysis outlined the village’s strong budget flexibility, liquidity and institutional framework. The $5 million bond will support critical infrastructure and other capital improvement projects to progress with continued growth in the village.

Planning progresses with public participation
Bourbonnais, IL - The Village of Bourbonnais announces the next public engagement phase of the Community Campus Plan. Thursday, March 5, 2020 from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m., the village invites residents, businesses and visitors to attend an open house in the Municipal Center Community Room at 700 Main St. NW. In the fall of 2019, the village announced its plans to create a dynamic and attractive central core for community gatherings around the Municipal Center and surrounding areas. The open house event follows a recent Community Campus Plan online survey in which over 1,100 participants shared input and ideas in response to the village’s outreach efforts to ‘Imagine Bourbonnais’.

As a part of its Investing in Illinois campaign, the Nicor Gas System Improvement Initiative is a multi-year initiative to modernize original natural gas infrastructure. February 2nd - 8th Celebrates Boy Scouts of America
Bourbonnais, IL – The Village of Bourbonnais announces ‘Scout Week’ in recognition of the Boy Scouts of America. The village is a long-standing supporter of scouting, and its efforts to build character, conduct, patriotism and service to become dedicated and responsible citizens. Returning as a part of ‘Scout Week’ is the Village of Bourbonnais’ annual ‘Scout Day’ on Wednesday, February 5, 2020. Bourbonnais Scouts will shadow village officials and run various village departments for an afternoon. A simulated village board meeting will take place at 3:00 p.m.

Bourbonnais, IL - The Village of Bourbonnais and Bourbonnais Township Park District are pleased to announce the Event and Skate Plaza located at 600 Main Street NW, behind the Village of Bourbonnais Administration Building, is now available to the public for ice skating (weather-permitting). The outdoor frozen rink is a free recreational activity provided to the community during the winter months. Skating may take place during the hours of 9 a.m. to dusk.
