Bourbonnais, IL – The United Way of Kankakee & Iroquois Counties will end its 21-week Equity Challenge with the unveiling of a community-led mural. As a result of the current 270-participant challenge, 120 reside in Bourbonnais where the community equity mural will be born - bringing Bourbonnais its first outdoor mural. United Way is pleased to partner with the Village of Bourbonnais on the community engagement project and encourages public participation. Beginning with the launch of the Community Equity Mural Design Contest, artists are invited to submit original artwork for the equity mural through June 11th.

Bourbonnais, IL – February 12th through April 4th, the Village of Bourbonnais invited all to dine local during Bon Appétit Bourbonnais. 323 participants found the new restaurant support and rebate event appetizing. A total of $37,566.91 was spent at 42 Village of Bourbonnais food-based establishments. Each qualifying rebate application was eligible to receive a personalized $10 Visa® Reward Card along with one entry into the grand prize drawing. Winners were announced via Facebook Live on Friday, April 30th with the help of John Keigher and Lisa Ravesloot from the Kankakee County Chamber of Commerce. Following a well-attended event in January hosted at Court Street Ford, the Secret Food Pantry’s founder and organizer, MaryLu Kruegr, reached out for additional sites to host future mobile pantry events in Bourbonnais.

Anyone can come for food, according to the pantry’s founder and organizer, MaryLu Kruegr. There are no residential or financial restrictions.
Bourbonnais, IL – The Village of Bourbonnais and Bourbonnais Township Park District announce the seasonal skate equipment has returned to the outdoor park located behind the Village of Bourbonnais Administration Building at 600 Main Street NW. The recreational space is a collaborative effort between both organizations and provides a safe location for the community to skate. Park hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. or dusk, whichever comes first. Safety rules are posted and will be enforced.
Bourbonnais, IL – Saturday, March 27, 2021, the Village of Bourbonnais and Bourbonnais Township Park District will spring forward with a joint egg hunt at 10 a.m. Both organizations will partner to host an Easter Egg Trail Hunt along the trails of Perry Farm Park at 459 North Kennedy Drive in Bourbonnais. This year, the new and modified event will be further spread out to promote social distancing and allow families and children of all ages to stay together. Five starting points will be included for ease of access to the trails with entrances at Coyne Street, Bisaillon Avenue, Cavalier de LaSalle Park and the Exploration Station in Bourbonnais as well as Valley Avenue in Bradley.
Bourbonnais, IL — Due to ongoing COVID-19 restrictions, the Bourbonnais Police Department will host a creative, yet socially-distant, Polar Plunge Saturday, March 6, 2021, in the Bourbonnais Municipal Center parking lot at 700 Main Street NW. With the help of the Bourbonnais Fire Protection District, the team of officers will have 500 gallons of water dumped on them from an 85-foot high ladder off of fire engine, Tower 69, at 11:00 a.m.
