Second annual event draws colorful turnout

Bourbonnais, IL – The Village of Bourbonnais is pleased to announce the winners for the second annual “Very Merry Coloring Contest” sponsored by Aqua Illinois and Milner Media. The contest was open to village residents of all ages and free to participate. The custom Bourbonnais coloring page could be downloaded and printed directly at home. A total of 56 entries were received by the contest deadline November 29th.

New this year, first place winners were invited to help Mayor Paul Schore light a special holiday tree on Thursday, December 2nd, at the village's first “Rockin’ Around the Tree Lighting” event.

Winners announced for second annual lighting contest

Bourbonnais, IL – The “Holiday Homes & Holly Jolly Lighting Contest,” sponsored by Brandon Casey’s Comfort Crew and SERVPRO of Kankakee County, continues to illuminate the Village of Bourbonnais through December 25th. The second annual event began December 3rd and encouraged outdoor festive lighting and decorations among village residents. Participants entered for a chance to win in Traditional and People’s Choice categories.  An online map of 31 holiday homes is currently available for viewing here.  

Save the date for the community event

Bourbonnais, IL – Following the cancellation of the 2021 event, Chocolate Tour will return on Saturday, February 5, 2022, from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The winter event is co-hosted by the Village of Bourbonnais and Bourbonnais Township Park District, in conjunction with title sponsor Sweet Street. $30 tickets will go on sale Wednesday, December 15, at 9:00 a.m. online at www.btpd.org and in person at the Bourbonnais Township Park District Perry Farm Farmhouse, 459 N. Kennedy Dr. and the Village of Bourbonnais Administration Building, 600 Main St. NW. 

Police & village now accepting donations for 2021 event

Bourbonnais, IL — The 30th annual Kankakee County Shop with a Cop event returns Sunday, December 12, 2021. The program, hosted by the Kankakee County Sheriff’s Department in conjunction with the Bourbonnais Police Department and local law enforcement agencies, benefits underprivileged children in Kankakee County. The Bourbonnais Police Department at 700 Main St. NW and Village of Bourbonnais at 600 Main St. NW are accepting financial donations through Monday, December 6th. Cash, coins and checks, made payable to Bourbonnais FOP Lodge #64, are accepted.

Winter event features sounds of Bourbonnais students

The Village of Bourbonnais presents the first annual “Rockin’ Around the Tree Lighting” featuring sounds of the season by Bourbonnais students. Thursday, December 2nd at 6 p.m., the public is invited to attend the festive outdoor event held at 131 S. Main St. (the corner of Main St. NW/Route 102 and S. Main St./Route 45/52). Warm up with local vendors, Connect Roasters and LoveALatte, serving seasonal favorites available for purchase: hot chocolate, coffee and cider. Attendees can additionally enjoy a special sweet treat from Dairy Queen with $1 small cones at the 121 S. Main St. location from 5 to 10 p.m.

This free activity is open to village residents and provides a festive experience for all ages. The custom Bourbonnais coloring page can be downloaded and printed here. Copies are also available during business hours at the Village of Bourbonnais Administration Building at 600 Main Street NW. Categories include ages 6 and under, ages 7 to 10, all ages or family, and special needs. Entries must be received by Monday, November 29th at 4:30 p.m.

Registration is now open through Monday, November 29th at 4:30 pm.

Community welcomed at outdoor event

Bourbonnais, IL – The United Way of Kankakee & Iroquois Counties invite the public to attend its Community Equity Mural unveiling on Tuesday, October 26th from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Mi Casa Mexican Cuisine 481 S. Main St. in Bourbonnais. Sponsored by OAK Orthopedics, the community event will be held outdoors at the mural location and include opportunities to meet the winning artist, Allison Freytes, take photos with the interactive mural, participate in an open mic session and enjoy a $2 taco special.

CDC confirms Halloween safety

Bourbonnais, IL – The Village of Bourbonnais announces trick-or-treating hours will take place on Sunday, October 31, 2021 from 4 to 7 p.m. in Bourbonnais. Village officials’ decision comes following recent direction from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and reviewing residential input from 2020.

Online survey for Streetscape Improvement Plan now live!

Bourbonnais, IL – The Village of Bourbonnais welcomes community participation in the Northern Gateway Streetscape Improvement Plan. The Plan includes areas along Bourbonnais Parkway, North Convent Street and West Burns Road. The goals of the improvement plan are to create a cohesive design reflecting the positive attributes of the village, increase pedestrian connectivity and stimulate economic development. The online survey is now available via the village’s website, Facebook and Twitter pages.
