Bridge replacement project to begin
Bourbonnais, IL - The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) confirmed the Larry Power Road overpass will be closed to traffic beginning Wednesday, March 25, 2020. The bridge located over Interstate-57 will undergo replacement similar to the recent St. George Road overpass project. According to IDOT officials, the overpass replacement is expected to last the entire construction season, with some work carried over into 2021 (weather-permitting). They are hopeful to reopen the new bridge to traffic this calendar year, pending no delays.
Motorists are advised to take alternative routes such as Armour Road and St. George Road during the construction period.
The scheduled project is the latest in a series of infrastructure updates planned within the Village of Bourbonnais. The most recent bridge replacement, the St. George Road overpass, reopened to traffic earlier this year. The new overpass designs include enhanced safety features including pedestrian walkways and lighting once completed.
Additional upcoming infrastructure improvements include repaving U.S. Route 45/52 from Armour Road to North Street in the village. The project is tentatively scheduled for summer 2020. The Armour Road overpass will undergo replacement tentatively scheduled for 2021. This replacement will not undergo complete road closure.
Updates will be provided as they are available. As always, we thank you for your patience during these much-needed improvements!
