Coordination of planning activities, implementation of the comprehensive plan and consideration of variances, special use permits and planned unit developments are handled through the Bourbonnais Planning Commission/Zoning Board of Appeals.

Members of the Planning Commission/Zoning Board of Appeals are appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Board of Trustees. Members are appointed for overlapping five-year terms.

The Bourbonnais Planning Commission/Zoning Board of Appeals conducts public hearings on all applications for rezoning, special use permits, planned unit developments, zoning variations, ordinance amendments and requests for annexations, as specified in the Illinois Compiled State Statutes.

The Planning Commission/Zoning Board of Appeals also reviews and acts on subdivision applications.

The Bourbonnais Planning Commission/Zoning Board of Appeals meets on the fourth Thursday of each month at the Bourbonnais Municipal Center, 700 Main St. NW, Bourbonnais, at 5:30 p.m. Information concerning meeting agendas can be obtained by contacting the Bourbonnais Planning Commission/Zoning Board of Appeals Administrator at 815-802-5323.
