4th annual event features Bourbonnais students
Bourbonnais, IL – The Village of Bourbonnais kicks off the holiday season at the fourth annual “Rockin’ Around the Tree Lighting.” Hear holiday carols from Bourbonnais elementary students Thursday, December 5, beginning at 6 p.m. The community is invited to attend the free and festive outdoor event held at its new home at The Grove located at Goselin Park 700 Main St. NW.
“Rockin’ Around the Tree Lighting” will initiate with the lighting of the village tree by Mayor Paul Schore along with special tree lighting honoree, Alexis McCullough.
Performances will follow and feature:
- Alan Shepard Elementary School - 3rd grade, under the direction of Emily Heald
- Bishop McNamara Bourbonnais – 3rd & 4th grades, under the direction of Stacie Knefelkamp
- Liberty Intermediate School – 6th grade choir, under the direction of Carrie Chaparro
- St. Paul’s Lutheran School – K-8 grades, under the direction of Diane Dyche
Santa Clause will be making a surprise stop with the Bourbonnais Fire Protection District, Police and Public Works for a truck-a-truck activity.
Attendees can glide alongside a winter wonderland of lights at The Rink – the village’s recently-opened mobile synthetic ice rink. Skate rentals will be available for free during the event.
Following a cool ice skate, warm up with hot chocolate around six firepits and
food available for purchase from the Chick-fil-A food truck. Don’t forget dessert with sweet treat special from Dairy Queen and $1 small cones at the Bourbonnais location from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
This community event is free to attend. No registration required.
