Donations accepted for Special Olympics Illinois athletes
Bourbonnais Police kick off their 2025 Special Olympics Illinois fundraising efforts with the Law Enforcement Torch Run Polar Plunge. Sunday, March 2, officers will participate in a special plunge down the viewing hill at The Grove located at 700 Main St. NW starting at noon.

This ‘cool’ cause benefits over 21,000 Special Olympics Illinois athletes with intellectual disabilities and 9,000 Young Athletes across the state, according to the Special Olympics Illinois website.
‘Brrrbonnais Police’ set a Polar Plunge fundraising goal of $6,000 for 2025. Their 2024 support raised over $5,497 for this event and collectively raised $18,690 for all Special Olympics Illinois events last year, placing the department at the gold level for fundraising.
“We’re excited for this special plunge and first one at The Grove,” explained Patrol Commander, Jason Sztuba.
“Our team is still trying to reach our goal, so every little bit helps. We appreciate our community’s continued support of Special Olympics and invite all to spectate this Sunday.”
The Bourbonnais Police Department is an avid supporter of Special Olympics Illinois participating in various fundraising events throughout the year including Dunkin’ Cop on a Rooftop, Culver’s ButterBurgers and Badges and the Illinois Law Enforcement Torch Run intrastate relay.
