St. George Road Overpass Construction

New Bridge is on the Horizon

Bourbonnais, IL – Beginning April 8, 2019, the St. George Road (5000N Rd) overpass will be closed to all through traffic. Signage has been placed as a reminder to motorists. The joint project with the Illinois Department of Transportation, the Kankakee County Highway Department and the Village of Bourbonnais will be replacing the overpass with a new structure that is both motorist AND pedestrian-friendly.

Mayor Paul Schore stated, "The new bridge design will incorporate a pedestrian walkway and lighting to increase safety measures for driving and walking traffic."

The project is tentatively-scheduled to be completed by the end of the year (weather-permitting). Motorists are asked to please plan accordingly. Alternative route suggestions include Larry Power Road and Bourbonnais Parkway (both equal distance north and south of St. George Road).

More updates will be provided as they become available. This is the first in a series of upcoming overpass projects planned throughout the village. We thank you in advance for your patience!
