Virginia Tech and IDOT partner on interstate lighting safety

Bourbonnais, IL – On behalf of Virginia Tech Transportation Institute (VTTI), the Village of Bourbonnais is assisting in outreach efforts for transportation study participants. The study, sponsored by the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), will be conducted by VTTI the week of March 27, in Bourbonnais. Participants will observe roadway lighting at several interchanges along Interstate 57. This project provides compensation of $60 for full participation.

VTTI is seeking healthy adults, aged 18 to 65, with normal vision to participate. The study involves a remote intake session via Zoom, and an experimental session in which a participant would ride in the passenger seat of a vehicle traveling along I-57.

The intake session is expected to take approximately 15 to 25 minutes, and the experimental session is expected to take approximately one hour in the evening.

A trained experimenter will drive the vehicle and be present throughout the entirety of the session.

This study has been officially approved by the Virginia Tech Institutional Review Board.
