Streetscape Improvement Plan Progresses
Bourbonnais, IL – The Village of Bourbonnais welcomes community participation in the Northern Gateway Streetscape Public Workshop. The Northern Gateway Streetscape Plan includes areas along Bourbonnais Parkway, North Convent Street and West Burns Road. The goals of the improvement plan are to create a cohesive design reflecting the positive attributes of the village, increase pedestrian connectivity and stimulate economic development. Join Village of Bourbonnais officials for a public workshop September 1st between 5:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. in the Community Room downstairs at the Bourbonnais Municipal Center 700 Main Street NW.
The open house will include interactive workshops for the community to help determine planning and design goals while offering opportunities to engage in initial visioning exercises. This is the second “Imagine Bourbonnais” initiative from the village welcoming public engagement. The initial introduced the Community Campus Plan in the fall of 2019 and included over 3,000 participants. The Community Campus Plan is currently in the design phase with projected construction beginning in summer 2022.
“We received such an amazing response for the first ‘Imagine Bourbonnais’ Community Campus project,” explained Village of Bourbonnais Mayor, Paul Schore. “We want to provide additional opportunities for public input and strongly encourage involvement for the new Streetscape Improvement Plan.”
“The Northern Gateway Streetscape Plan is the village’s opportunity to create a sense of place for residents and visitors as they enter from the Bourbonnais Parkway Interchange and travel along North Convent and Burns Road,” said Laurie Cyr, Village of Bourbonnais Assistant Administrator.
Attendees are invited to arrive any time during the public workshop which will be led by the Hitchcock Design Group – a landscape architecture firm – with support from village officials.
