The Village of Bourbonnais is entering its second year of The Grove – a NEW state-of-the-art outdoor entertainment venue and central gathering space for residents, businesses and visitors to enjoy year-round. This popular hub needs a spirited intern team to help facilitate its marketing and special events success! Now accepting intern applications for summer 2025!
Internship Length: June – August 2025
Desirable Candidates: Accredited junior or senior university students enrolled in a marketing or communications field of study; recent graduates with a bachelor’s degree in marketing or communications field
Position Type: Part-time unpaid internship with stipend opportunity following internship program completion; flexible hours can vary based upon weekly events calendar
Supervision: Reports directly to the Marketing & Public Engagement Director and/or Specialist, in his/her absence
General Responsibilities: This position will assist the Village of Bourbonnais’ Marketing & Public Engagement Department, as needed, with written and verbal communications supporting The Grove’s marketing and special events, including planning and preparation as well as event coordination.
Essential Duties: Will serve as an enthusiastic community liaison and utilize hands-on marketing coordination assistance for Village of Bourbonnais special events throughout the summer; additional marketing tasks assigned based upon availability
Minimum Qualifications and Skills:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- High level of organization and attention to detail
- Comfort with multi-tasking in a deadline-driven environment
- Understanding of basic marketing concepts
- Excellent time management skills
- Familiarity with social media platforms and social networking preferred
- Graphic design, photography and videography experience a plus
Education:
- High-school diploma
- Enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program, marketing or communications-related field preferred
- 1-3 years of experience in marketing or equivalent education
Ability to:
- Professionally represent the village through various public marketing tasks
- Maintain a positive image for the village
- Interact tactfully with the general public and village staff
- Work well outdoors both independently and in a team environment
- Work flexible hours with some evenings and weekends required for special events
